Literary Mama writing about the many faces of motherhood
Welcome back!

We've been busy during these holidays, updating our software and redesigning the look of the site, which was long past due for a refresher.

Literary Mama was founded over five years ago by a small group of writers who first met as part of a Berkeley, California writing group led by Amy Hudock. Amy and that initial group of mother-writers - including Joanne Hartman, Rebecca Kaminsky, Sybil Lockhart, Sophia Raday, Heidi Raykeil, and Rachel Sarah -- worked with Andrea Buchanan (in Philadelphia) to establish Literary Mama. Today, we're over thirty editors working from three different countries to publish work in eight sections - all of which will now be easier to read!

So poke around: you can subscribe to feeds of your favorite sections and columns; you can share our writing with your friends easily via email, Facebook, Twitter and the like. You can comment on all of our writing. The look is new; the writing is as good as ever. So pull up your laptop and sit for a spell; we've got a lot of catching up to do.

Caroline M. Grant served on the editorial board of Literary Mama for over ten years, including five as Editor-in-Chief. She is currently Associate Director of the Sustainable Arts Foundation, which provides grants to writers and artists with children.

She is the co-editor of two anthologies: The Cassoulet Saved Our Marriage: True Tales of Food, Family, and How We Learn to Eat (Roost Books, 2013) and Mama, PhD: Women Write about Motherhood and Academic Life (Rutgers University Press, 2008). Her column, Mama at the Movies, ran on Literary Mama for six years; she has published essays in a number of other journals and anthologies.

She lives in San Francisco with her husband and two sons; she writes about food and family on her blog and at Learning to Eat. Visit her website for more information, including clips from her radio and television events.

Caroline is former editor-in-chief for Literary Mama.
