Writing Prompt: This Is Where You Write
Each month, we post a writing prompt tied to the current month's essay. Please email your responses of 500 words or less to lmreflections (at) literarymama (dot) com with the word "writing prompt" in the subject line so that we know it's not an essay submission. We will accept responses until the 15th of each month and offer our feedback on each response privately before the end of the month. We hope you'll take this opportunity to get inspired, share your work, and find community with other writers!
This month, Kathy Moran writes . . .
In This Is Where You Write, Jennifer Ruden reminisces about a favorite writing desk that she now regrets giving away: "I had no kitchen table, no living room chairs, no china hutch. I had a bed. I had my cat, but most importantly, I had my desk: that colossal magical beast. All I had to do was sit at it and write. And I did. I taught GED and literacy during the day and, at night, I sat down at my desk atop the shag carpet and looked out my warped windows and wrote."
Describe your favorite writing spot. What is it about the surroundings that encourage or inspire you to write? If you have no particular spot to call your own, describe how you make do as you take time to write.
