Swimming (Stretchmarks)

by Kris Underwood

In the right light
They glisten
Like the scales of fish–
They ride along the waves
Of my hips and stomach,
Invisible under stretches of denim
Or bands of skirts,
Resurfacing only through
The reflections of glass
Or the memories of birth.
