Literary Mama writing about the many faces of motherhood
Six

she draws her girls in triangle dresses
on picnics and picking blueberries
holding hands

she listens close to circular talk
on radios and daddy's mouth
scratching her scabbed elbow

she reads her square books
on pink beds and play porches
shrugging her shoulders

she wonders about the world

Ellen Anstey lives in historic Lowell, MA, with her husband and two children (daughter, age 14, and son, age 13). Her two children are 11 months apart and she often wonders how she survived with two in diapers, but looking back now, she would not change a thing! Ellen has had other poetry, including “Six,” published in the April, 2004, edition of Ardent magazine.
